A LASTING KINSHIP
In 1958 Guido Gazzani, the first generation of Bontoni shoemakers began making handmade custom shoes for a select circle of friends. Crafting these beautiful shoes was his passion; a way of life, not a business venture.
Guido kept a strict ledger detailing the shoes he made and the gentlemen to whom they belonged. His shoes adorned the feet of local winemakers, master tailors, and furniture upholsterers, amongst many others. Many of these merchants bartered their goods and services for a pair of his shoes, which were coveted for their craftsmanship, distinct
details, and exquisite finishes. Along the way, Guido built strong friendships with each of his clients.
Today, just like in 1958, Bontoni strives to approach the art of shoemaking with Guido’s passion, authenticity, and skill.
And, like our founder, we’re proud to have built lasting familial-like relationships with many Bontoni aficionados from all corners of the world.
